Tyler Buchner, one of few Asian American QBs
Historically, QB has been a position dominated by white players, even long after the NFL had become a predominantly Black league. As of 2019, people of color made up for 70.1% of the player demographic. And as recent as 2013, 82% of quarterbacks were white.Representation of Asian American quarterbacks has been nearly non-existent throughout the history of the NFL. Former No.1 overall pick and Rookie of the Year Kyler Murray is ¼ Korean and is the only Asian American starting quarterback since Filipino American Roman Gabriel in 1973.
In the 2020 season, there were zero quarterbacks in all of Division I football of Asian heritage. Buchner, who is Korean American, is the second highest ranked and second Elite 11 Asian American quarterback of all time (behind Kyler Murray in both regards). Elite 11 is the nation's premiere quarterback competition, one that crowns the top 11 performing senior quarterbacks through rigorous competition.

Serena Williams’ final stretch
The 40-year-old legend, who would retire from tennis after the 2022 US Open, lost her third-round match at the tournament on Friday, falling 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-1 to Australia's Ajla Tomljanović.
A successful Black woman in a predominantly white sport, she has beaten the odds, and talented opponents from multiple generations, across four decades. Williams reportedly earned over $94 million in prize money but earned an estimated $340 million through endorsements and her sponsorship deals are not likely to dry up. Her retirement will now give her more time to pursue business ventures and she's keen to give back through her charity ambassador roles.

The new format is set to begin in 2026 but the board has tasked the College Football Management Committee to try to implement the expansion earlier, following the 2024 or 2025 season.

South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley canceled games against BYU
Staley cited BYU's controversial home volleyball match against Duke as reason for calling off the series. "As a head coach, my job is to do what's best for my players and staff," Staley said in a statement released by South Carolina on Friday. "The incident at BYU has led me to reevaluate our home-and-home, and I don't feel that this is the right time for us to engage in this series.
Basketball icon Sue Bird plays her last game after two legendary decades in the WNBA
Bird's storied career has redefined basketball in Seattle and nationwide. The WNBA designated her one of the 25 greatest players in league history last year.
The 2002 No. 1 overall draft pick went on to become WNBA's all-time leader in both assists (over 3,000) and career starts (549), and the only player in the league to have appeared in 500 career games.
